does anyone know what the final date that you can hand your notice in to start a new job?
By end of May to start in Sept - considerate (to Head and to your department) to resign sooner so that they can recruit before the end of May.
Make sure that you specify in your resignation letter that you are resigning with effect from 31st August 2010.
If you do as some teachers do and write that you wish to resign from whatever date in July that your school closes for the holiday, you run the risk of not getting the summer holiday pay and having a break in service before taking up a new post on 1st September.
Thats the exact answer I was looking for. Thanks.
Make sure to quote 31st Aug 2011 as your finish date this year! This is an old thread.
You can submit a resignation at any point up to and including the 31st May, even if that falls in the half-term break. There's usually someone in the office, otherwise write Hand-delivered on the 31st May on the envelope. You might also back it up with an email to the Head to let them know it's been submitted.
