Language reward system- ideas?

Discussion in 'Primary' started by mrsmeg, Aug 10, 2012.

  1. I am the Welsh subject leader at a school which teaches Welsh as a second language. We try to ensure that Welsh is spoken at various points throughout the day and reward the children when they use Welsh independently in the classroom or on the playground.
At the moment we have a star system where if a child is heard speaking Welsh their teacher places a star next to their name on a chart, the children with the most stars win Welsh themed prizes every term. This star system is ok but is not followed consistently by all teachers at the school and the same system has been in place for years!
Does anybody have any exciting ideas for a reward system which would appeal to both children and teachers?
    Thanks
