What! A bit early isn't it?

That reading is the highest it has been for years. I'm sure last year was 31!

it was, which mean 2 of mine have just missed L5 ( and that's 16% dropped off my results[IMG])

  7. Are these
    legitimate? Surely it's too early?

We had 9 children on 32 or 33 for reading. A real kick in the gut. I didn't think the questions were actually that tough, but the paper was really long and not many got it finished.

    Maths is good.

Writing is alright. The drop by 1 mark for L5 means one more person made it. Although we had a few on 35.

I never thought the overall would be 70 though. I thought 67/68 compared to other years.

  12. Sorry missed the link. Thanks I'm quite pleased with these then! Shame about the 5 kids who got 75 or 76 in maths but you win some, you lose some. Have a few who now have a level 4 in English that I didn't think they would manage so overall quite pleased.

  13. Got really happy cos I thought my one Level 3 writer had scraped in, but now realise she had 22!!!! [IMG]

  15. You really have to be a strange breed to be a year 6 teacher - here we are all working out percentages and getting excited or sad at numbers being raised or lowered.
For what it's worth - I gained 2 level 5 mathematicians, gained 2 level 4 writers (the 4 who got 3s all got 22...aaagh 1 mark away all of them!), lost 3 level 5 readers and lost 2 literacy level 5s. Compared to last year's thresholds that is...
That reading band was harsh but the writing was sooo generous (for 4s).
I shall look forward to not doing these next year - someone else can sweat over their laptop..

  16. reading thresholds...hmmm am I being a bit cynical or would this be a government agenda; they are so big on reading at the moment we might have suffered a bit here. Like someone else said, you win some, you lose some. We lost 15% level 5s off the reading due to the change in marks (hence my cynicism!) So many of my bright sparks got bogged down by the paper and didn't finish.
Still, I am just so glad it is over, hopefully my eye will stop twitching now!

  17. Haha! I'm annoyed I left all my stuff at work thinking I was safe for another night dreading what the thresholds will be! But yes we win some we lose some, but I love teaching Year 6 so this is the penalty for it!

Ohh yes. Done mine, but they are combined with my colleagues for an overall year 6 celebration or not. I've not brought the whole year group's results home today, so can't get overly excited just yet.
    Me too.

  19. Ditto! Am trying to remember scores off the top of my head!

  20. I've been working all my levels out but I'm worried I've made a mistake. Our writing percentages seem to be really high this year. I will be very happy if it's right!!
