I have just been told this is my new role for this forthcoming year in my academy primary school. I would be very grateful for any advice and tips on how to give this my best shot. I have not been any sort of coordinator before.

The only scheme in use is Rigalo for French. There are quite a few EAL children in school and I wonder if there is a way to celebrate this, and is that actually one of the roles of a MFL coordinator?

It would be worth doing a search on TES as similar threads have come up a couple of times in recent weeks.

In the meantime, here are some useful sites:

https://scilt.org.uk/Primary/tabid/1291/Default.aspx - Good for current developments in languages

https://www.thelanguagemagician.net/ Game (funded by Erasmus+ and various other organisations) aimed at assessing children's language ability in different languages - free.

https://www.lightbulblanguages.co.uk/resources-primary.htm - Very good for planning, resources, podcasts etc. Free and frequently added to. https://lightbulblanguages.blogspot.com/

http://www.rachelhawkes.com/Resources/Yr3/Yr3.php Useful Spanish planning and resources.

https://www.french-games.net - Can be used as a whiteboard resource for teaching vocabulary or by individual pupils working on mini vocabulary tutorials or games. Other languages are available, e.g. https://www.spanish-games.net

Alan le lait has a lot of French songs for learning vocabulary on different topics.

https://agreenmouse.com/ Songs, short stories and videos for children learning French or Spanish.

Thank you both for your kind and helpful replies. I have not been given any release time for this new role and have not been feeling particularly well these past few weeks since being back in class. I will need to set aside some time one weekend to properly tackle this and get it rolling.
