  3. ********** have some nice space themed resources, keyword rockets, role play area stuff etc. Good stories to link to include How to catch a star by Oliver Jeffers and Man on the moon/a day in the life of bob (can't remember author!). Good luck!
  4. I Did a Space theme mini topic with my Year 2's last year. We looked at Astronauts/Moon landing and simple Solar sysytem ordering ie order from sun/size. I 've amassed quite a lot of resources which I'd be happy to send if you leave your email addy. Also ceck the resources bank & Primary resources

    These websites were useful

  5. We had the big O in June whilst we were doing a space week! I teach year 2 but the following ideas may be adaptable:

    1. Rockets: Film canisters, Alka selzter tablets and water. Children decorate the film canister to look like a rocket. Then outside with adult supervision put half a tablet and fill with water. Put cap back on a watch them fly. Kiddies had great fun and the inspector was impressed. Extend learning by asking how could you make rocket fly higher, faster? Alter qauntity of water and tablets to see what happens. Use investigation train to record.

    2. Marbling planets. Use marbling inks to print on a piece of paper. Cut out a circle. Children have invented a new planet! Discuss what planet is like - atmosphere, life, water, distance from sun etc. Design and make posters advertising new planet. Hold news interviews to develop Sp and L.

Hope this is a good start for you.

Let us know how you get on!

  8. Hi Alibea,

I don't suppose you still happen to have those resources? I have to plan a creative curricukum in an international school all by myself and am feeling the pressure. If you do my email is sharoncampbell82@hotmail.com and I would really appreciate it.

PLEASE, Please don't promote **********. He's a twice convicted and twice jailed paedophile and the thought of anyone still supporting him (knowing what he's done) makes me shudder.
There are lots more links (pages of them) if you look.
  10. This post IS 3 years old! At the time I'm sure the poster wasn't actually aware....just like most of us.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who doesn't check the dates of posts but kind of expects them to have a date that is actually in keeping with the correct year at least !!!

  12. I would love these resources if you wouldn't mind sending them?
I am also teaching about the moonlanding and the 1960s.

  13. Any chance I could get a copy too? karenbushnell@hotmail.com

    Many thanks, K x
  14. Hello Alibea, I'd really appreciate if you could send me any bits that you have from this space theme week. I also teach year 2 and we are having a space theme week in 2 weeks time. My email address is tara.cusack@olovrc.com.
    Many thanks [IMG]
  15. Why not sing some songs about these subjects. Out of the Ark Music do some titles in their My World Series, Space and Taking Care of Myself. You get a book and audio cd with vocals and backing tracks so you don't need to be a music specialist. Songs are catchy and easy to learn and the kids love them.
  16. Thanks for that tip. I've had a listen to the songs on the website and they sound great so I've ordered a copy. Thanks again. [IMG]
  17. I too would love a copy if you don't mind. It is our topic for next term in year 2 and would be grateful for any resources etc. you may have linked to space.
    Thanks very much
