Id like to start some sort of maths intervention for a small group of my yr2's. They have poor short term memory, and struggle with basic number bonds, doubles/halves, one more/less, odds/evens etc. My TA will only have 10mins 3 times a week, so the activities need to be short but intense. Does anyone have any good suggestions/resources/schemes? Was looking at springboard but looks like its more aimed at ks2.

Can you look at any of the Every Child Counts bits? Ours have something like half an hour 4-5 times a week, but you might be able to get some good ideas.

Numbers Count (wave 3 intervention at the heart of Every Child Counts) needs a specially trained teacher to deliver the programme.
You might find Wave 3 materials, Overcoming Barriers, Moving from x to y or securing levels documents a good place to start. All schools should have these documents already, either hard copies or on a CD.

  5. The Numicon set and resources are very good and we are having good results using it with our Year 2s who need some additional support.

  6. We have used Making Maths magic from ERidings - you can order it online if you are not in that LA and it has had good results (needs half hour sessions though but could probably be split in to 15 minute sessions).

Also check out the Cumbria site - this is a Year 1 catch up programme but can be used across KS1

Another one worth checking out is Wrexham LA's Sums Up
