Fair do's. I won't start a gardening thread, then. We can wait and see what TesRosaline says. :)

When I was a kid, my mother used to send me out with a shovel to get the 'oss manure, after the rag and bone man had been round! I hated her for that!

In order to divert the necessities of nature to my granddaughter's entertainment, I bought a bird-feeder and hung it from a tree observable from a window. The sum total of beasts I have seen take any interest whatsoever is one blackbird.
Spring? It was -2C when I hacked the solid layer of ice from my windscreen this morning. OTOH, the masses of daffodils lining the (slightly longer but i will take it during daffy season) route to work look just about to pop.
Jeez I sure am cheap to cheer up.

Our grass is a disaaaaster! The first lot of turf was laid on a Friday and turned up it's toes by Monday. The second lot has got leather jackets in it, as has the neighbours. We've had it treated, scarified and all sorts of treatments, but it's horribly patchy and sparse. We worked so hard to start the garden last year and it just looks a mess.

I wish we could afford to have it landscaped and maybe get rid of the grass if it's going to keep getting those wretched critters. Pah!

    Don't hard-landscape it @foxtail3

Horrible environmentally. Go for a camomile meadow or a moss lawn.

Far too wet to cut grass here and still too many frosts expected.

SiL has had daffodils since November.

That's the main thing for me, initially. It equates to happiness. Getting up in the daylight . . . .the days NOT being gloomy twilight for 6 hours then back to pitch black. I HATE winter, it's an abomination. If I were El Presidenté, winter would be banned.

If TESRosaline creates a forum we'll go with that . . . .. I'm sure loads of folk will be delighted? . . . if she doesn't, we'll create a thread and folk will be equally chuffed.
