Join a union before commencing training

I wanted to urge other prospective trainee teachers to join a union.

I didn't realise that I could join a union this early on - I have secured a place on a school direct training course and I knew that when I started in September I could potentially join one if I wanted to but actually you can join as soon as you have a place on a course, even if it hasn't started yet.

It is free at this stage to join and who knows how soon you may need advice, so please, even if you haven't started yet join a union.

I had hoped to at least begin my career before I needed the advice/support of a union but alas not...
