He has gone missing in Majorca where he lives apparently. He has Alzheimers so they must be very worried. I must admit the thing that really caught my eye is that he's 81. What with discovering Roger Daltrey being 71 I really ought to get over this but it still takes me by surprise.

Hope the old fellah's alright but in soaring temperatures he is really at risk.

I must confess that my first reaction to this story was "Oh, bless him!" Singleton, Noakes and Purves were very much 'my era Blue Peter'.

Maybe they could get another one that looks just like him?

I don't mean to be unkind but I think Shep may be dead.

Didn't Mr Noakes have someone caring for him? That's really sad.

    Shep died in 1987.

According to the BBC News page, he was looked after by his wife.

  10. It's chilling to think this development may be waiting for any of us. I hope they find him and he's alright.

The BBC news site is reporting that he's been found. Thank goodness.

I always felt John was "not waving, but drowning" even as a child. There was a vulnerability to him even then. Still, maybe he just got a bit lost, and this is all overblown for an 81 year old. He is lucky to be there. Which brings me onto the much more interesting subject of Errol Brown.

John Noakes was a brave lad. The only time I remember him 'bottling out' was when he was asked to be the 'button boy', at the top of the mast at HMS Ganges. He almost got to the top, though.
