Job seeking in Cyprus

Discussion in 'Jobseekers' started by wolverine1, Jan 21, 2011.

  1. I am considering applying for a job in Cyprus. There is a job in an international school in limassol and wondered if anyone has taught there. Could you give advice on pay, cost of accomodation etc.

    Wrong Forum!
You need to post on the Teaching Overseas Forum.
But before you do, search through the posts already there.
    Good luck.

I do Application and Interview one-to-ones, and also contribute to the Job Application Workshops. We look at application letters, executive summaries and interviews.
The next Workshops I'm doing that still have vacancies are on Sunday 13th and Friday 25th February. There is also a specialist Workshop for applications to SLT on Saturday February 19th.
Go to https://www.tes.co.uk/article.aspx?storyCode=6060678 for more details of these and other seminars.
    Look forward to seeing you!

  5. A good question and having attempted to search TEACHING OVERSEAS FORUM found very little to help...especially as the search function is not working as it should! I myself am looking for the same info/advice...apparently not here though...
Hope you found something....if you do perhaps drop a link to somewhere...
    kind regards

Search function has just worked for me. I put in Cyprus on the Overseas Forum and got 70+ replies. have another go!
This is not the place for info about Cyprus, But I can tell you a few things.
In the S (Greek), there are a few British-curriculum schools. One of the best-known is THIS.
The main source of jobs for English teachers is, of course, the Forces schools. But there is immense competition to work there as you get UK salaries plus, which gives a very good standrad of living in Cyprus, I understand. More info on Service Children's Education HERE
In the North (Turkish), there are also a few British schools. One of them was set up by the local Estate Agent to provide schools for the Brits to whom he sold houses. But it hasn't done badly. However, the most highly-regarded school in N Cyprus, and possibly in all of the island, is THIS I was impressed.
    Best wishes
