Job market for chemists?

Discussion in 'Science' started by albertdog, Jun 16, 2011.

  1. Reading the posting from the physics teacher has made me wonder what peopleperceive to be the market for chemistry teachers. Following a serious accident, i have been trying to get back into sciene teaching, as a chemistry specialist with 35 years experience, with no success at all, and I live in London.

    What are other chemists' experiences?
  2. Seem to be plenty of jobs around where I live that are advertised as chemistry as opposed to science (quite a few faith and independent schools). They tend to be pretty picky, chemistry degree from a decent university, good A-levels, good previous results at KS4 and KS5, experience as an examiner etc. Plenty of general science jobs but they tend to want someone cheap rather than someone experienced (and therefore expensive).
