"An unspecified illness". I see his TV "straight man" Ian St John is still alive and kicking at the age of 81, having undergone bladder-cancer surgery in April 2014.

I thought you didn't like football

I don't enjoy watching football being played, but I do appreciate humour, whatever the context.

I never had the privilege of watching either of them play unfortunately.

I went off soccer about 20 years ago. But I was a big fan when Greavsie was in his pomp. Saw him play once, for Fulham. Also saw George Best play for the same team.

He had a bad stroke a few years back. I think this is to be expected.
I can't stand football but I did always enjoy Saint and Greavsie.

Plus of course, John Prine has died.

Everyone looks up to John Prine.

He has not been doing well for quite a while (as said above).

He is known in the town he lives in (somewhere in Essex) for going out regularly to the shops and saying hello to everyone.

I would imagine when talking off record he had some very interesting stories to tell and views on life.

Something about him reminds me of the Kray twins (not the violence, just the time, the 'morals'....)

Hope he recovers but yes, he has been poorly for quite a while, sadly.
