Jeremy Hardy: Comedian and Radio 4 panel star dies aged 57

    That's sad - so young.

I always enjoyed his caustic humour - and, having a voice like a corncrake myself, could empathise with him when he had to sing on 'I'm sorry, I haven't a clue.'

Oh now that is a shame... use to love hearing him on the radio...

One of my favourite comedians, even if l didn't always agree with him. A sad day.

I love the News Quiz, but it was always extra special when Jeremy Hardy was on. So sorry to hear of his death.

He was always good for a well structured left wing rant. Very sad.

Very sad. I had no idea he was ill, he seems to have been on Radio 4 quite recently.

I really liked his comedy, but it only really worked on radio. I couldn't see him doing the sort of stuff that Michael McIntyre earns a fortune from, even though it would be far more entertaining for the thinking person.

It worked best on radio in short stints, such as he got in the News Quiz. A two minute rant about Tory injustice or religious b.ollox would leave you thinking and stick with you. An entire show and you've forgotten most of what he said.

George Carlin filled theatres ranting about the way things were, but needn't have been, doing long stints, but to less effect than Jeremy Hardy could.

My Friday evenings in anticipation that he might be a panel member on the News Quiz are significantly inferior now. RIP.

Really ? Have been reading responses to his death - so well thought of, liked and admired. Just so sad

Very sad to have heard this. Much too young. I was able to see him live some years ago and he was fantastic, @Duke of York.
Such a shame - I may not always have agreed politically, (though I usually did) but he was a voice of reason.

Radio 4 did a retrospective at 06:30 for the news quiz. Nice to hear.
