I've got this nasty feeling...

  1. Burnt at the stake? Publicly tarred and feathered? Flogged on the school playground?
Sorry I can't help, but thought I would put whatever does happen (if much/at all!) into perspective :)

    Depends on the circumstances.

Can you show they have made progress from their start at the school?

Can you show they have made progress since KS1 SATs?

Can you show they have made progress with you this year?

If so then nothing at all will happen. Might trigger a visit from ofsted or your LA next term, but that is all.

If they have not made good progress in any year then your HT has a massive headache. If they have in all years but yours, then you need to come up with reasons why not.

Worry not though...as HappyPixie points out, it really won't be all that bad!

  3. This happened to us (we had a generally weak cohort), and we had two LA inspections over the next year. Also,we think Ofsted are going to arrange a visit in Autumn.

Was it "expected" based on previous results, teacher assessment or is this a complete surprise?
    Have they made progress?
Are the results in line with your assessments?
Not sure about what happens next.

Take heart. You can use the last 3 years as part of your process. I am sure you can show tracking pupils has helped, and it wasn't unexpected. What did you do to try to solve the low results? Better to have tried and failed than not to have tried at all.
Any way whatever the results were you now need to move forward and look for next years results being better.

  6. This must be very disappointing for you and there must be an explanation.
Which KS are you in? Are the results explainable by the fact that on entry this particular year group had much lower achievements on entry at 4+ years/ KS1/KS2?....
Did you notice any specific students who did better than expected?
Keep thinking of the great results you have achieved in the last 4 years.... they weren't flukes.... and think how you can carry those over to the next school year. Start investigating and get set on the successful path again.
Make sure you have some time out to relax completely during the 6 weeks vacation.
You've done it before and you can do it again
