ITT - What a waste of a year!

I am now the only trainee that is left on my course without a job for September.

I am so angry that I went into ITT with the intention of teaching a much needed shortage subject and now having done that in less than ideal circumstances there is pretty much no chance of getting a job for next year.

I will now be financially and personally in a far worse situation than I was before I started ITT.

Sorry to whinge but I am absolutely at my wit's end.

Which part of the country and which county or specific area are you looking in?

    What's ITT?

If you can teach Computer Science, don't mind living in a box room or bedsit (it's all you will be able to afford on what you'll be paid), working 60 hours a week, don't mind big classes with a wide range of abilities and are happy to teach badly behaved pupils, I strongly suggest you stop moaning and start sending off speculative CVs to all secondary schools in the SE and London today and again in a few weeks to the same schools, one CV and letter to the Head, one to the HoD. Many schools have given up advertising for teachers because no one is prepared to work for what they are offering. Emphasise you're cheap, will put up with anything and are happy for them to attempt to burn you out. Stick it out for one year then head abroad and begin your career properly. If you can't move for personal reasons, you should have thought of this before so apply to MacDonalds, Deliveroo or Uber if you have a nice big car. You'll earn about the same but with less stress.

I know of two school close to me looking for CS teacher still. Like @50sman says it depends where you are looking for a job.

If there is absolutely nothing in your area try the local ed recruitment agencies. You will need a school that will at least get you through your NQT year, should be plenty of them, I always lost out to the NQT in my previous applications before getting the HoD role by accident(I applied for a teaching role).

The OP was last on the forum one hour after I posted my question

They are obviously taking their time in thinking about the answer to it.

Yes. It could be a clickbait wind-up post.

So where are you not getting the jobs, not getting to interview or failing at interview?

I have to laugh! Accuracy could not be higher but it is a realistic course of action and would result in a job and a start.

I am glad that the my situation is so amusing to you.

If you think that my post is just clickbait, look back at my last year of posts and see the difference between a year ago and now.

I can't look myself, I can't believe that just one year ago I was so excited and eager to start ITT and now the opposite.

To repeat my question which I don’t think is amusing

Which part of the country do you live and specifically which area

No one can help you without this information.

Not all jobs get advertised on TES. If you give an indication of the areas of the country you are willing to work in, people on here may know of jobs (or sources of information about jobs) that they can point you towards. Information on your specialism may also help.

    Still no information.

Either more focused on complaining than looking for a solution or extended trolling.

    Either is not productive

    1. As said answer where you intend to work for help.
    2. I laugh at the accuracy of the description quoted (it does not refer to you at all). If you need advice on SE living cheaply, it is possible to provide it if relevant (see 1.) if you are referring to my post. You need to be more direct in your communication.
    3. Good luck with your search.

    "I can't look at myself"

That's not a good sign but there are still loads of jobs for cheap teachers in some parts of the country. If you aren't willing to move to start your career like most of us did that's a different matter so tough - it's a MacDonalds career for you. On the plus side, you will get a free uniform with hat and Big Mac with medium fries every day. Mmmmmmm. Enjoy.

No point saying anymore until the OP gives us more information so we can help them - like the rest of us I know of many schools looking for computer science teachers.

TES currently showing 22 jobs in South East and South West, sure I saw OP post South Coast on a different thread. Again try the local agencies if nothing there suitable, do the leg work and find something that you want, as a shortage subject you have the advantage of a suitable degree should be snapping your hands off, but expectations are a problem. The last time we advertised only 4 applied and one of them was internal, of those we saw the three external candidates were not great, one could not control the class, one(from a MAT) looked like he wanted confrontation with the students, and one didn't know what they were talking about.
In the end it is up to the OP to do something about the situation, i.e be prepared to travel, or move.

Def a wind up post by a bored student. SheHe clearly not serious or may have "issues" making them unworkable with.

Op last on message boards at 2:50

I hope tomorrow we get an answer tithe question.

If it is just a whinge about how unsupportive and rude everyone is I think I will ask for the thread to be pulled
