Is this legal?

  1. The school where I currently work has rolled the timetable forward, which in itself isn't an issue. The issue is that the school has a falling roll and as a result is becoming overstaffed, so SLT responsible for timetabling have timetabled SL periods on teaching staff's timetables. These SL periods are being touted as bonus planning time, BUT not guaranteed because they mean that if cover is needed you will be pulled off SL and put into cover. Surely this goes against 'rarely cover' under pay and conditions?

    what do you mean by SL?
    "Free" periods, and ones given to HoDs for leadership/management time (as opposed to PPA) CAN be used for cover, but only under the existing condidtions of rarely cover. PPSa cannot be used.
