I know all schools haven't been using phonics for all that long but what is the experience of teachers beyond KS1? Are children reading and writing better? What differences are you noticing? Are KS1 children doing batter in their end of key stage tests?

We have always used phonics so it is difficult to guage but since we ensured that all staff including those teaching in KS2 had good training in how to teach phonics we have seen improvements throughout the school.
Reading is easier to see progress attributable to phonics because we have adopted a number of approaches to improve writing which together contribute to raising writing achievement.
