Is Nicky Morgan right to defend the expansion of a grammar school?

Nicky Morgan last week claimed that rejecting the application to expand a successful grammar school would have been “perverse”, but the education secretary was quick to stress that the government has no plans to change its policy on this type of school.

However, the shadow education secretary Lucy Powell was not convinced by Ms Morgan’s assertion and warned that the decision to allow this grammar school could open the floodgates for more.

Do you think the first new taxpayer-funded grammar school in 50 years could lead to more in the future?

Could this be a new way to introduce new grammar schools by the back door?

Is she right to defend the opening of an annex in another town? Not sure really.

I am unsure why she didn't have a Free School open there if it was so essential as those are at the heart of Tory education policy.
