Is age a glass ceiling...?

Discussion in 'Headteachers' started by e-Luddite, May 8, 2011.

  1. Is age a glass ceiling for..potential deputy heads in the secondary sector? Just how old can the newest deputies be? Realistically!

We can all give opinions, but no-one can realistically give an answer. Age ought not to be a glass ceiling - or to correct myself, I'd actually set a minimum age or length of service before a person could become a deputy - for their own sake as well as the school's.
I've appointed 3 deputies in my time. None was less than 43 and one was in his early 50s.
