I'm looking to get an iPhone. I could afford to get an iPhone 3 now,
but would have to save for quite a while for the iPhone 4. Not a big
techie - just want to download some good apps. Will the iPhone 3 be
    compatible with all apps?

Yes, it will. I love my iphone 3GS :)

  5. Apps will pretty much all work. Only real difference between 3GS and 4 is higher resolution screen and better camera/video. I won't be upgrading from 3GS to 4 in April when my contract is up. Not worth it.
