Interview questions - KS2 Post

Discussion in 'Jobseekers' started by Surreyteacher, May 19, 2012.

  1. Off for an interview next week and I'm a little out of touch.
Has anyone got any tips on the sort of questions I might be asked?

  2. I guess the PGCE questions on TES and practice questions I got from a friend might help. It's an ongoing process of building up your questions or until you get a job.

What led you to apply for this particular post?
What is your experience of teaching in KS2 and how do you feel about teaching in this phase?
What is your understanding of the newly proposed NC and how do you feel about the changes that have been suggested?
Can you give examples of how you used and organised different learning environments in KS2 to enhance the learning?
What is your understanding of Assessment for Learning?
What is your understanding and experience of the Creative Curriculum and how do you feel about this?
    Thinking about your lesson ?
How do you think the lesson went?
    What would you do differently?
    What would you do next?
Can you give an example of challenging behaviour and how you dealt with this?
If you were in the supermarket and a parent asked about a child in your class, what would you do?
How would you cater for all the needs of the children in your class? Give an example.
If a child made a disclosure to you what would you do?
How would you most like to be remembered by children in your class?
Do you have any questions for us?
If you were to be offered the post would you accept?

    Hope this helps...

Hi there Surrey teacher! Soime helpful tips above.
Here's another: for a faster reply from me, it often helps to include Dear Theo in your title, as I don't always have time to open threads that don't say that.
Now here is some general advice about interviews.
go to the Welcome thread over on the JobSeekers Forum, and read the
general advice in the two Interview clickables. One of these includes
questions - but don't go learning answers off by heart!
And then read this general advice about doing an observed lesson.
Do read this thread too, about Child Protection at interviews.
And the thread with the famous Middlemarch mind mapping in it.
These should give you the basic tips and advice for really showcasing all your skills in that interview.
We look forward to you starting a new thread called Dear Theo - I got that job!
    Best wishes.

Meet Theo on line on the TES JobSeekers Forum, every week in print in
the TES magazine, or in person at one of the TES Careers Advice Service
    seminars or individual consultations
