Interview: planning for Reception class

Discussion in 'Early Years' started by MinusNothing, Jul 17, 2011.

  1. Hi all, I'm an LSA and all my experience is in KS2.

I've got an interview and have to plan a 15 minute session for 6 reception kids.

Topic is seaside, and must be linked to early learning goals.
I really don't know where to start, so any help appreciated.

  2. Hi
Maybe be do a counting/sorting activity with shells, ask them count out a given number or shells or sort them into hoops big/small etc.
Treasure hunt maybe? Outside or hide things in sand tray (sorting)
Art and Craft - make flags, windmills, buckets and spades, make boats and then see if you can make them float (paper or playdough).
I've not long done 2 weeks on a seaside topic. I gave mine a box with blue/yellow fabric etc and a selection of seaside materials and let them loose, great for extending language.
