interview on sprinting technique any ideas?

    I've finally got an interview after a lot of applications. So pleased to get the letter through at the weekend, now worrying about planning an outstanding lesson.
    Anyone got any ideas on lesson plan for sprinting technique - how can I show progression?

    Presumably you're PE? In which case you're much more of a specialist than many of us here.
    Think of what sprinting involves. Take a 'starting point'. Demonstrate, or ask student to, one technique, practise and find a way to show students how they've improved.

    I really do think that a PE specialist ought to be able to plan a lesson like this without having to resort to asking on a general forum on job applications - don't you?

    No - I just think you need to use your own education and training to prepare for interviews.
     
  7. Excuse me for stating my opinion although I couldn't quite help noticing how rude your comments are towards someone who is asking for help!?
    Teaching is all about helping each other out with ideas, experienced professionals have alot to offer as do newly qualified teachers with fresh new ideas.
    There's no need to be rude or arrogant, you may not need any help in your specialism but don't put others down especially if they are putting themselves out there that they could need a few ideas.
    In actual fact i admire people who ask for help, they want to do a good job. Being a teacher yourself, you should respect that.#Rude

    To be fair to Middlemarch, from the opening post it did seem to be a plea 'How do I plan a good lesson?' from someone hoping to be considered as a candidate for a job which involves planning lessons and therefore not exactly going to inspire confidence that th OP can do this.
    Asking for help and sharing ideas among colleagues is good, but not neccessarily something as basic as lesson planning.

    I'm not a PE teacher, so I wouldn't have a clue on what to even begin to suggest in terms of lesson content (which of course, is a bad idea anyway).
    But we should all know what basics make a good / outstanding lesson.
    Middlemarch has always been great at giving advice from a headteacher's viewpoint - and I personally appreciate the honest, realistic attitude. I can understand why you have taken offence, but Middlemarch's comments were designed to get you thinking of your own ideas and trusting your own instincts. I know from when I've had to do shared planning (not for an interview lesson), teaching a lesson that a colleague has planned is always trickier than those I've planned myself, even if we've talked through it all beforehand. Someone else's ideas are never as clear in your head as your own.
    This last week I had to teach an interview lesson in totally unfamiliar territory (type of school, topic, age of pupils etc) but was greatly empowered by researching my topic and planning it from my first ideas. The lesson went well as a result because I felt confident in delivering it.
