I have an interview next Wednesday for an AST post in a secondary school (not the one I work in at the moment). I haven't been given any details of what exactly they want an AST to focus on, so I'm assuming that will be discussed at interview based on each applicant's skills and experience. I'm not currently an AST but I do have some relevant experience which I'll obviously be able to talk about. I can guess a lot of the questions they're likely to ask, but can anyone suggest any questions beyond the standard interview questions for any teaching job, or give me any tips that would help me? I'll also have to teach an hour lesson - I know they'll be expecting to see AfL, differentiation and all the standard stuff any observer would be looking for, but is there anything else they're likely to be looking for specifically in terms of the AST role? I know the future of ASTs is a bit up in the air at the moment, so I'll be asking them some questions about that when I get the opportunity! Thanks for any help you can offer.
