Hi, at the moment we use Policy Central but the LEA are going to start charging us for this at the end of the year. I would like to look at alternatives to be able to compare pricing. Could anyone tell me what software they use if it is any good?
We don't need it for filtering as that is done by the LEA. Just something to monitor what they are typing, web sites visited etc.

Another two systems you can look at are:

    Content Watch - http://www.contentwatch.com/,

    Track4Win - http://www.track4win.com/

To access the internet in ContentWatch you have to select your username from a list of users. Track4Win installs a client that silently monitors internet usage.

Do not forget to disable any security software when you install the client on the workstation. Anti-virus software may see client applications as keylogging software and flash up false positives when scanning.
  5. Someone on YouTube has done live comparisons of Impero et al in action. In house packet sniffing may be good if your students know how to use proxy servers!

It's for a Junior School so they tend not to be too familiar with proxy servers or sites to avoid them ;)
