Induction year...does supply teaching count?

Discussion in 'Supply teaching' started by tweetypi88, Jan 17, 2012.

  1. I was wondering, does supply teaching count towards your induction year now? I know that it previously didn't but I've heard that it has changed?

At present 'No', but in the response form on the reforms, I argued that it should count in that the experience of supply involves actualling teaching. The ATL also argued that previous experience and new ways to do an induction should be included in any reforms. But the final decision is likely to leave the decision upto any HT, when considering the length of the induction, because one idea mentioned is that anyone with previous experience of teaching, the HT as the power to take this into consideration and so reduce the time for an induction to potentially one term.
But until the decisions and reforms are confirmed, we can only speculate about the reforms.
