The main aspects of the induction review are unlikely to change -there is a short consultation period before the Parliamentary process begins. The Gove. hope the regulations will then apply from September 2012 along with the new Core professional teaching standards. The regulations are mainly broadly similar to the existing ones with more flexibility about which appropriate body schools can choose. It also introduces charging fror all schools from April 2013- will this become a disincentive?.The reduced induction period applies to significant experience of teaching outside of the maintained sector and would be regardless of whether the teacher is engaged directly or on supply as long as the post is for a term or longer.. The big question is what will happen to all the NQTs who hit the 5 year barrier for supply work with no further extension or flexibility?
