IndependENT or IndependANT ?

    I can't believe the number of times that people in this forum use the spelling 'IndependANT'.
    That is wrong, isn't it? Can there be so many people involved in independent schools who can't spell 'independent'?
    Google references to 'Independent Schools' total over 12,000,000.
    References to 'Independant Schools' = 8,900.

    I hope people don't think I'm being pedentic!

    It was the "asperations" that got me: I suppose you might desire a bit of "roughening up" if you want to move from the independent to the state sector!
    (I wouldn't normally point out spelling errors - but "aspiration" is a word likely to be used in job applications, as of course is "independent" in the case in point.)
