Sorry if this has been posted elsewhere. On the BBC Local News Wales, there is a big feature about improvements for supply teachers in Wales.

I can’t work out how to post the link as I keep getting the generic bbc website ...but it is worth a look. It seems to indicate that supply teachers in Wales will get a minimum daily pay rate. Also, that agencies will be obliged to show how much they earn and how much the teacher earns for assignments.

It suggests that, in some cases, agencies take around £160 whilst teachers get £85.

It also notes that schools will be permitted to take on supply teachers independently of agencies more easily.

    Thank you for the post.

Very good news indeed for supply teachers in Wales and perhaps those changes will come to the rest of the UK.

The Dept for Dumbing down, otherwise known as the Dept of Education are always ten years behind Wales in respect to teachers and NQT's especially. We need the same level of support and rules like Wales have constantly brought in.
