Importing a cat to Singapore DIY

Hi,
Has anyone imported their cat to Singapore themselves- ie not using a pet transport company (which quoted upwards of $2800 not including pre departure vet things).
I’ve read some things that say don’t do it it’s a nightmare but these usually have affiliated links to transport companies.

Ive looked into the AVA website and know there are a few things involved but it doesn’t seem difficult. Just time consuming.
What about once we are there? Condos ok with cats? I know HBD aren’t.

Any feedback or experiences? It will be BRISBANE to Singapore.
