I'm confused again

I keep seeing references to a spell checker on here but have never managed, in spite of my regular typos, to trigger it.
In the end, and after checking previous posts about spellcheckers, I've set up the browser to check my spelling.
If I switch that off i don't get any spellchecking (and the words spellchecker and spellchecking aren't underlined to suggest that they are not correct)
If I switch it on they are.
Similarly I can spell colour as color (and vice-versa) without remonstrance from the computer with the browser spellcheck switched off but if I do the former with it switched on it doesn't like it.
Can anyone explain how I can get the "TES spellchecker" to operate?
Or tell me if it actually exists or is an urban myth ?

Mine appears to think I'm in the US as I can't spell colour without the red line appearing.
I regularly check all spell checkers I can find are UK, but to no avail.

It's a browser or device spell check not a TES one.

Both IE and FF allow you to choose which dictionary you use
In IE it is in "manage add ons"
And in FF you also use add-ons to install an english dictionary
It's about the same in Chrome but I'm not sure about other browsers

I seem to have auto-correct on Windows 10. I do not approve. I'd rather edit my own ramblings.

I use Chrome and haven't edited the basic settings. It has UK English enabled for the spellchecker and lets me type 'colour' without complaint.

I have no real experience but with the last I-phone I borrowed I just reset the keyboard and the spell checker followed suit
