We have begun CIE 0522 with Year 10 and so far the freedom is AMAZING! Teachers are teaching to their GROUPS and not to a stupidly tight (and illogical ) timetable where there is a "test" every 6 weeks - we also don't lose up to 18 hours a year teaching because of the CA. The new spec (AQA) is still running in Y11 - the pupils hate it as do the staff. As a precaution we are enterng our Y11 for CIE 0522 in the summer as well . We have no faith in the marking of AQA due to the amount of rem-arks (at AS an GCSE) for this board this year.

We have no SOW as such, just teaching good old fashioned skills using the books we have in the cupboard (and teacher's choice) and not some odd poetry choices!

Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.

  3. Sounds exactly like our situation! AQA marking was shocking and I HATED that new spec, found it a logistic nightmare with missing kids, kids bunking CAs etc..Delighted to hear iGCSE is going well... Hope we fid it as successful!:)

    Hey,
Are you doing the iGCSE with AQA? Is this counted in the league tables 5 A*-C with Maths and English? I was just wondering because we are with WJEC and it is clear on the website that the iGCSE cannot be counted in your 5 A*-C.

    Thanks :)

  5. We started CIE 0522 in Sept, seems to be going well. Not sure about WJEC, but the CIE course does count for both Ebac and %A*-C.
