If you had a robot...

...what would you like it to be able to do?
Watching Tomorrow's World, robots were all about making our lives easier and removing drudgery of housework. On the Gadget Show they're a bit more fun. In fiction you get depressed Marvin who could do amazing things but ended up making tea or my namesake who has AI and is able to manipulate worlds. There's even a rise in sex robots.

What would your ideal robot look like and what task would it be able to perform?

Robots make me feel a bit sad. Especially ones with AI.

    Sorry, didn't answer your question...

Sad because you feel sorry for them?

I'll gift you with a clown robot to cheer you up as punishment.

    (insert evil laugh here)

Yes, I think so. I know it's daft.

Not daft. The robot as slave narrative is common one.

Not sure if this truly answers your question but I have a particular liking for Cutie (aka QT1)

    I'd like Robocop's ED-209 as a Teaching Assistant.

I'd smash it into pieces before it led a rebellion that overthrew my species.

I'd like a laundry robot that sorts, washes, dries, irons and puts it away. Please :).

Me too. Not sure how my husband would feel about me getting a wife. Too pleased for my liking I would guess!

I think we need a troll exterminator robot.

I would employ it to be on continuous find-my-glasses watch.

Ooh, and find-my-keys watch on the side.

I would have liked a robot to mend the loo flush yesterday and then I wouldn't have had to call an emergency plumber.

I should probably confess that I can't get through Short Circuit without crying.
    Ed-209 is chasing you.

I'd like a few robots, small, unobtrusive ones.
Succinctobot: translates my ramblings into succinct, coherent and grammatically perfect sentences.
Etiquettobot: listens in on all my conversations and tells me when it's safe to speak and what to say.
Robogic: for when I'm floundering on the horn of a dilemma and swithering here and there. The hard, fast logic of this robot would clear things up in a jiffy.

I want a sewing robot. Or one like the Star Trek replicators which can scan me and make perfect clothes to fit. Maybe a more competent and less neurotic Kryten.

I'd also like a Morphobot: a realistic body double which can impersonate me, but do things much better than I can, perform well at interviews, for example.
