If I do a GTP whilst working in Early Years/Primary School, can I then teach in Secondary....?

    Hello everyone,

I have worked for the past 4 years as a Learning Support Assistant in a Secondary School. I'm now about to become an Early Years Practitioner. I know that in my new school there will be future opportunity to do a GTP. If I decided, later on, that I was more suited to secondary, how easy is it to teach in Secondary with a teaching qualification from early years/primary? I wouldn't have to do the teacher training year all over again, would I?

    Many thanks.

  2. I don't know about early years, but I trained in primary and am now a secondary HOD. You need lots of passion AND a degree or at least extensive experience in whatever subject you wanted to teach. Good luck.
