Has anyone got any ideas for an exciting start to a Gruffalo topic please?

I was going to tell the children that something was seen in the woods and give clues for children to guess who it was. However after meeting the class I think this may probably scare them!

    Has anyone got any ideas?

    Thank you x

Children like being scared .they will remember it.

Its hard to tell where to start as I dont know the age group you have but i assume its 7 year olds.

starting...does it have to be exciting?

One could start with... today were going to go on a trip....what sort of trips might you go on.

Our trip is into a wood..anyone been to the woods? what did you notice .see.hear smell etc

In our story we are going to share a story of a very brave mouse who one day decided to go into the woods,,,

Is that the sort of introduction you mean?

Create an 'immersive classroom' (see post above ). Let the children explore and ask their own questions.
