I will be running a French day next year in a primary school. This is my first one and I wouldn't mind getting some ideas and advice.
    Thanks in advance

Take the register and discuss the weather in French. Learn a song, e.g. http://fslactivities.ca/songs.html
    Play petanque.

An idea which is a bit more ambitious, but has been done by some schools, is for pupils to act as waiters for their French cafe taking breakfast orders from their parents. Pupils and parents speak in French ordering from a French menu (croissant, tartine, chocolat chaud etc). There are various videos and menus online, e.g. http://www.instantdisplay.co.uk/frenchmenu.pdf

The French cafe is a tried and tested idea, best done with the older children acting as waiters/waitresses, but certainly playng games and singing can be done with all ages.

If you have some simple books and some able readers you could also have a library Storytime.

Get them to dress in bleu blanc rouge or they can make rosettes with crepe paper and wear them. If it coincides with 14 the July you can do stuff on revolution. Months of the year and revolutionary calendar ?

Have the pupils done any French? How many classes are you working with ? What age? Same pupils all day? What space do you have? Will the primary school teachers be in with you?

Did Bastille Day this year: split school into mixed age groups and rotated them through 7 different activities throughout the day. We had History, Geography, Music, PE (boules), food tasting, Art (Seurat) and French schools. Meant each teacher only had to plan one 30 minute activity and then repeat 7 times.
