Ideas for a Journalism Workshop??

Discussion in 'English' started by fullofsoundandfury, Mar 22, 2012.

  1. Hi all! I've been asked to run a six week course of Saturday workshops for Year 6 students (I am a secondary school teach but we host Year 6 classes on Saturdays). Each of the six sessions will be two hours long, and it's meant to be an introduction to Journalism. Does anyone have any ideas for activities, especially any ideas for a 'finished product' they could produce by the end of the project? Much appreciated!!!

There's a 'delivering a newspaper in a day' workshop being held at NATE this year, I believe. Would be good to pick up resources, and meet people doing something similar.

I did this as a gifted and talented project recently. Essentially gave them pads and passes, and gave them access to our school website to publish real-time updates.
