Ideas for 5 afternoons taught by Teaching Assistants

Discussion in 'Primary' started by jgh123, Jul 5, 2015.

  1. Hiya,

Our school have given the staff the next five afternoons off timetable to re write our literacy based around a text, and all the topic curriculum too. This means that teaching assistants will be left with the classes.

Just wondered if anyone had any ideas of things they could do with year 5/6? It needs to be something simple that can be delivered by 1 adult, but enjoyable so the kids don't mess about. I was thinking about a 1 off project? Maybe something to do with PE or Map work? Any ideas?

So while a teacher is in the classroom teaching they have the support of a TA but when the TA is 'teaching' the class they are on their own. Is this what will happen? I suggest giving the children tests/assessments and the TA can just supervise or are they going to be paid extra!
