IBS...

Discussion in 'Health and wellbeing' started by geniegirl, Apr 7, 2012.

  1. Really sorry but this post my be a little graphic.

I've suffered with IBS for the last 10 years. My normal symptoms are
an upset stomach and quite severe cramps. I control this with
my diet and trying to be stress free!

However last night, after an upset stomach and cramps (for no real
reason that I can think of) I started to get a pain in my bottom (I guess
in my colon). It has been absolute agony to pass wind (another of my IBS symptoms)
and Ive been in pain for most of the dag. I'm just wondering whether these
are symptoms of constipation? I've never really been constipated before but
it does feel that I need to go to the toilet but in just too my h pain.

Going to take a senicot tonight and see if that helps, but just wanted reassurance
that this could 'just' be constipation

We can't diagnose your symptoms because we aren't doctors and this is an internet forum for teachers. If your symptoms continue you need to see a dr.

There is a condition associated with IBS, the name of which escapes me I'm afraid, which has exactly the symptoms you're describing. That's not to say that this is what you have, but as you already have IBS it's a possibility. Have you tried taking paracetamol?

Googled it. It's called proctalgia fugax. Great name!
