    National self determnation is the basis for peace in the worldconsequence of World War 2 was the Atlantic Declaration in'42 which became the reason for fighting the war. It then formed the principle by which Britain decolonised it's Empire.
    Unless you like the prospect of perpetual war between the great powers and the subjugation of smaller nations, think again.
    The UN Charter is a legally binding document signed by virtually every nation on the planet. You might not like it, but states very much have the right to exist.
    Article 1
    The Purposes of the United Nations are:

    1. To maintain international peace and security, and to that end: to take effective collective measures for the prevention and removal of threats to the peace, and for the suppression of acts of aggression or other breaches of the peace, and to bring about by peaceful means, and in conformity with the principles of justice and international law, adjustment or settlement of international disputes or situations which might lead to a breach of the peace;
    2. To develop friendly relations among nations based on respect for the principle of equal rights and self-determination of peoples, and to take other appropriate measures to strengthen universal peace;
    3. To achieve international co-operation in solving international problems of an economic, social, cultural, or humanitarian character, and in promoting and encouraging respect for human rights and for fundamental freedoms for all without distinction as to race, sex, language, or religion; and
    4. To be a centre for harmonizing the actions of nations in the attainment of these common ends.

    We already have this situation. The 'great powers' just use proxies or methods other than military. Cyber war for example.

    I doubt it but the Welsh probably didnt agree to being part of England, but they got over it and very few want to leave the British state today.

    Of course it probably wouldnt have worked out that way, the model would have been a Vichy type state run by the potentially large number of British collaborators and fascists. Like France, a change of governance rather than the elimination of the state and its civil service. Perhaps the crown may have stayed intact with a Germany friendly King in place.

    Excerpt from the DT (Tanya Gold)
    Last week, for the first time in its 106-year history, the New Statesman, the left-leaning political magazine, announced that it would not endorse the Labour Party.

    It cited the evidence of the Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis, The Jewish Chronicle, and the Jewish Labour Movement (JLM) which, despite a long affinity with Labour, will only now campaign for “exceptional candidates”. The editorial read: “A party that cannot be trusted in relation to Jews cannot be trusted at all.” Then the JLM’s final submission to the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) investigation into anti-Semitism in Labour was leaked.

    It is a monstrous document which suggests that the party is now wholly infected. Those who do not personally incite Jew-hatred tolerate and deny it, which amounts, in this climate, to the same. Their punitive processes are partial and corrupt. Corbyn’s pathological hatred of Israel, and his refusal to accept that Jews are a vulnerable minority because we do not behave as he thinks vulnerable minorities should behave have ruined him and his party.

    A Labour Jew was called “a Tory Jew”, a “child killer” and “Zio scum” by fellow members. He was told to “shut the f*** up, Jew” and that “Hitler was right”. Jews were jeered out of Labour Party meetings; told to go and count their money; told that Jews are over-represented in “the Capitalist ruling class”.

    As the child of a historian whose expertise is anti-Semitism and the Holocaust, it was fascinating. I know I am writing like a historian: who wants to read tears? I have studied the Holocaust for thirty years, but I never really understood how it happened. That is why historians are particularly consumed by this subject; from the perspective of London or Oxford, our careful notes do not add up. They cannot. They should not.

    The journey from anxiety to ash was so swift. I knew the steps by rote – political and economic crisis, ancient Jew hatred (deicide myth, blood libel), Jewish involvement in Communism and Capitalism, the weakness of German social democracy between the wars, President Von Hindenburg’s credulousness, the psychological role of the scapegoat blah-de-blah. I can do this all day. It was the only paper I got a First in: Jew hate.

    But I never understood how these tidy bullet points related to hatred in fellow British faces. I do now. I have watched it for three years.

    My own moment of realisation was when I went to the British Library last year to read the late Jim Allen’s play Perdition. It is about a Jew called Rudolf Kastner who, for organising a rescue train out of Hungary in 1944, was accused of complicity in the Holocaust. That is the libel of libels: that Jews murdered their own; and any living Jew is a murderer. In one insidious flick from Allen’s pen, responsibility for the Holocaust is handed to the Jews; and the world becomes less frightening. I understand the psychological need to minimise the Holocaust, because it shows us what we can be, and who wants to know we are capable of butchering a continent of children? (I await the Twitter battle about perpetrators, bystanders and rescuers.)

    Perdition is beloved by Ken Loach, who is likewise beloved by Corbyn’s Labour. He is their in-house intellectual – from a small pool, I grant you.

    I went home from the library, eyes cold with fear and rage. Not for myself; this country has been kind to my family. My grandfather had cyanide ready should the Germans invade in 1940, because he would not let my grandmother go to a concentration camp, but he never had to use it. It was, rather, for the children commemorated at Yad Vashem in Jerusalem with a candle and mirrors, so the lights seem infinite. They aren’t. They are mud.

    And so, I was only coldly relieved by the JLM submission. Because we are not lying; we do not lie for money; for the love of a Greater Israel; we are not Tory stooges. I have been told by people during this awful election that I must do nothing to stop a Labour victory. If I do, I am a racist, who did not learn the lessons of the Holocaust, as Jews should, when encountering a teachable moment. I have been told I care nothing for children in poverty; or the homeless; or for my fellow British people. That is a familiar accusation: the Jews are the enemy of goodness, except Christ-murder has morphed into more general murder. I have been told that Jewish fear is a necessity for society’s happiness.

    I don’t write this because I support Boris Johnson. I don’t. It is because I fear Labour; as other minorities fear the Tories. And they should say that without libel or denial. Racisms rise together; and anti-racist education has failed.

    As the facts become plainer, the denials from Corbyn's corner become wilder – when they bother to deny them. Rebecca Long-Bailey, Corbyn’s likely successor, said she had not even read the JLM submission a full morning after it had been leaked. Corbyn’s media supporters, meanwhile, have done nothing less than write themselves a new Protocols of the Elders of Zion, and on Twitter. The Protocols are a Tsarist forgery, claiming a Jewish plot to dominate human civilisation. A whole generation of young Leftist journalists have ruined themselves by falling to conspiricism and dehumanisation. That will not end well either.
