I have failed.....

Discussion in 'Further Education' started by artbot, May 5, 2011.

  1. I have failed to gain a place on PGCE. However everyone was saying ( even at the PGCE interview) I should do FE as I am an Art and Design specilaist with over 30 years experence in the Art field. I dont know anything about this area-Can any one help!! Is there as many jobs in this sector as Primary positions? Is there any agencies involved in FE?? How should I go about it? I can go to Australia yo do the PGCE but should I? Is FE a better route?? Any advice appreciated. Thanks

  3. In the past I have applied for both school based and FE PGCEs. I found it a lot easier to get a place on an FE PGCE and am just about to complete the course.
I'm a literacy specialist and the job situation is dire. There are jobs out there but there's very few and it looks highly likely that I'm going to have to relocate to secure a position. However, I see the PGCE as a golden ticket as it's going to open up so many options that weren't available to me before so it's definitely been worth completing the course.

Hays and Protocol National are agencies that recruit for FE.

Good luck with your decision. I'm sure it will alll work out for you.

  4. OK I will have a look as I am at a loss since the University of Hertfordshire rejection-When do u have to apply for FE PGCE?

  5. There are dramatic funding cuts in FE this year so jobs are likely to be scarce. We're making teachers redundant. I've lived through this before and it will pick up again at some point but probably not for a few years.

  6. I applied directly through the uni last April time. I'd apply asap as some courses may already be full.
