I have been given £3k to spend on Primary Geography & History resources..... any suggestions of what to buy...?!

Discussion in 'Primary' started by Aitch1uk, Jan 20, 2011.

  1. My team have been given £3k to spend on Geography and History resources. We have to have our order in by the end of the month. I am not a Geography or History expert and I am failing miserably in my mission.... I don't want to waste the money, nor do I wish to make stupid purchases, just for the sake of spending the money. Any suggestions for what to buy would be gratefully received. Thank you!

  3. Hi,

These are worth a look. Great ICT based resources that the teacher can use to bring History to life. The kids love using it.

    Hope this helps

  4. Thank you so much for this - it looks great!

I have also found the Geographical Association online - here's a link to their website - they have some great free resources and well as a shop: www.georgraphy.org.uk

    :)

Lucky ***! I have £50 to spend on science resources all year. I can't help you out, just expressing my jealousy.

Does that include buying the non-fiction books for the topics or do they come out of Literacy?

Buy things like artefacts for chronology, contrasting, observational drawing.
A good bank of primary sources to compare with secondary sources.

Fabricls that go with the topics for display purposes.

Role Playing costumes or masks, good for hot seating in KS2.

Up to date atlases and globes, OS survey maps.

    Ariel photos of the school.

    ICT mapping software.

Just be aware that the TTS group often take ages sometimes 6 months or more to fill orders. So if you want something asap don't hold your breath. They are also quite often out of stock of items.
