Strewth, we might as well give the Chinese government an invite to GCHQ for a guided tour...
So you know how all this 4G and 5G technology works and the security implications of Huawei's involvement it
Is Trump moaning yet?
He'll be tweeting his protectionist opinion soon enough
I know that, despite being a private company, Huawei is essentially an arm of the CCP, and therefore it seems rather foolish to even risk exposing yourself to loss of data to a foreign government.
I know that the USA and Australia have declined to use Huawei due to security concerns.
Lots of links between Tory party and Huawei UK, so no big surprise.
Huawei are already involved with existing 4G technology. MI5, MI6 and GCHQ have all given the green light, with caveated restrictions that have been implemented.
It's impossible to know the extent to which US protests are genuine or an attempt to recruit the UK as an ally in its trade war with China.
I wouldn't want to do business with China anyway because of its appalling human rights record.
There's a company that's openly affiliated with the Chinese govt that already forms part of our 5G infrastructure. XTE?
Huawei the lads.
Have they got 5G that goes through walls yet?
And doesn't need a tower every 200-300 metres?
[my understanding is 5G is limited by those factors - if I'm wrong happy to be informed]
Not very good links since so many senior Tories are criticising the deal.
You must find that a big surprise.
Why must we rely on a Chinese company for the skills and expertise to implement this technology? Why cannot we do it ourselves?
Oh thats right the UK stopped investing in science and technology to any great degree required years ago.
Now the Chinese might be able nick all our secrets, who's fault is that?
Same reason as all other European countries, I think.
Not all European countries, other 5G manufacturers include Sweden's Ericsson and Finland's Nokia.
Um, its the fault of the Chinese. But we don't have to make it easy for them.
Wasn't it that we were pooling our science research with the rest of the EU?
Because we seem to need the Chinese to build our nuclear plants too...
Isn't that Microsoft now?
Boris certainly showed that he's not gonna be America's poodle, didn't he?
He's gonna be China's poodle instead.
Boris caved to Chinese blackmail. Weak, contemptible and bad, bad decision that puts the whole country in jeopardy.
So why don't France, Germany. Netherlands, Belgium., Italy etc not manufacture 5G systems? Is it because they stopped investing in science and technology to any great degree required years ago?
Who cares about national security if compromising it means you can get in a little smack at Trump, right?
