At a recent staff meeting, one member of the SLT announced that she has resigned her TLR with effect from the end of this academic year. She is in charge of LKS2 and has suffered, health-wise, over much of the past year. She is going to continue as a class teacher, but doesn't want the pressure of leading two years groups. I have been teaching for nearly 10 years now and would be interested in applying for this position. The thing is, I don't really know how to go about it. The two teachers who have TLRs have been in position for ever and so I haven't ever seen how the 'promotion' of a teacher works. Is the post advertised internally, is a prospective candidate approached quietly, does an interested party approach the head-teacher? Can you please advise me?
