How much does degree class matter

Discussion in 'Computing and ICT' started by apmcarthur, Jan 31, 2012.

  1. Hi all,

I have been teaching for 5 years and I have a 2:2 on my degree.

How much do you think it matters that I have a 2:2 compared to a 2:1 for future job opportunities?

    it's utterly irrelevant

  3. Really? You dont think having a 2:2 would close doors to me as opposed to having a 2:1?

I got a third and it's made no difference to me, I've never been that ambitious - however a colleague, also with a third, is now a deputy head.
Mind you I did my degree 30 years ago so it's probably the equivalent of a PhD these days.

  6. I was reading some interesting research from John Hattie (you can see the document here ). It basically says, among other things, that subject knowledge and level of education have little impact on achievement.

  7. That'd explain why there are threads every so often from teachers asking how to do the A2 Level project ....
