How many years teaching experience do you need to teach in Aus?

Discussion in 'Teaching overseas' started by mgalvin84, Jul 1, 2011.

  1. I've asked this question a million times and I get a different answer each time!

I'm starting a history PGCE in September and would ideally like to head to Aus after my NQT year.

My partner has a skill on the SOL, so would it be possible for me to go her visa and still be employable in Aus?

We're looking at VIC or WA.

    thanks in advance!

  2. Each state has different requirements, which is probably why you get different answers.
    Here's the site for Vic

and heres the site for WA:

You would be eligible for your very own visa (175) using Secondary School Teacher as well, if the worst happened and you split with the girlfriend as well (as you need 12 months experience ou of the last 24 for that, but you would have it with your NQT year) :)
    Enjoy :)
