How many hours English at KS4?

Discussion in 'English' started by rshakey, Jul 26, 2011.

  1. Vivmillion, how many hours are you planning to provide?

Given the complexity of the new specs, I would say that 3 hours a week is the minimum you could get away with. Most secondary schools do variations on 3/4 lessons a week, usually an hour each.
  2. Nine fifty minute lessons across two weeks. This means that they never, ever go away. Always at my flamin' door.

Thanks for that, I have them for 3hrs 20mins a week. In two hefty 1hr 40mins lessons! I think there may be problems engaging them for that long. I may try changing room half way or something. They're a lovely group, just a bit fizzy as another member of staff described them!
Thanks for the extra cirricular ideas, Gloriasunshine. Will certianly give the public speaking ideas a go.
