How is your Veganuary going?

We went to a popular chain restaurant that was having a veganuary menu.

I had sweet potato and ginger soup, followed with chips and a side of broccoli garnished with steak.

I think I'm doing pretty good so far.

Not sure you've quite got the hang of it, Lan.

The steak you mean? It was a garnish... like watercress.

Not so well considering we’ve just demolished a leg of lamb with all the trimmings. In my defence it was already dead.

If it died in 2019 it doesn't count... you're in the clear.

Doing pretty badly. Roast Turkey for NY dinner this afternoon with all of the trimmings.

We did have some vegetables with it though. The red wine was probably vegan.

I haven't eaten anything animal-based today apart from milk and butter but it was just coincidence.
    I'm having a prawn stir-fry tonight.

How is my Veganuary going? I never expected to come on here and have to face the Spinach Inquisition. Nobody expects the Spinach Inquisition.

Advertising the fact that you don't give much of a **** about all of our futures and our children's futures isn't a good look. Even if it does probably stem from internalised fear.

I am thinking of starting an Adverb Protection Society !

I have to live with an American so have to correct permanently the ubiquitous " I'm doing good".......it's so unfair !

Not unless you deliberately chose it to be. Most wine isn't.

Vaganuary might have to wait until next year in this house.
    Today I:
Chopped masses and masses of turkey from a giant carcass, the second of the season.
Boiled the bones from said carcass in two massive pans and now wonder how we will use such a huge amount of very good stock.
Sliced two hams, and froze the slices ready for OH's sandwiches.

Waitrose is clearly not in the vaganuary spirit...bought all the above for under £15, but I'm left with a very, very full freezer. No room for tofu, soya, etc.

Thanks for that. It's on a par with your other sensible contributions to climate discussions

    Happy New Year.

You learn something every day. I did not know that about wine.

I did, because during the Thatcher era, when mortgage rates went through the roof and everyone was skint, it was impossible to drink beer or wine unless you made it yourself. But for that though, I doubt I'd have any cause to encounter isinglass and wonder what on earth it was.
