How do YOU use dual language books?

Discussion in 'Primary' started by lizzierrr, Jan 25, 2011.

  1. I have recently become EAL coordinator and I was wondering if many people here had used dual language books before and if so, how did you find using them?
Do you have any good ideas/ activities for using them with either individual children or with the whole class?

  2. Please help! I have to promote them at the staff meeting and it would be so beneficial to have some peoples viewpoints on them and ideas on how they have been used.

I've only used them to teach French to my class. Not quite what you wanted.

Why do you have to promote them?

I think if I had a KS1 class and a child with the langauge other than English, I might use them in storytime. the child learning English could then sit near me and follow the story in their language as I read it in English. Doesn't really work in year 6, unless I read 1:1 and I don't ever have the luxury of time to do that.
