How are you paid?

Discussion in 'Private tutors' started by ellesabe, Jun 24, 2011.

  1. I'm just in the process of setting up as a private tutor and am undecided about how to request payment? Are you paid by cash or by cheque? In advance or on the day? Do you charge a cancellation fee and if so how much?

Cash or cheque. One client did bank transfer. I don't charge a cancellation fee as I understand children get ill / are tired - as long as they don't take the p***. I have a good relationship with my clients and many I have had for at least a year.
  4. I think most people would expect to pay on the day.
